Can Streamers Make It In Today's World? The wages streamers earn on Twitch

A streamer is a person who broadcasts his or herself in real-time (referred to as streaming) while playing video games is known as a streamer. Those who wish to stream their play may do so through online platforms such as Twitch and YouTube.

Twitch is a place for the social side of gaming. Some of the world’s top streamers and gamers show their skills and entertain their fans on their Twitch channel. Some only stream for fun, some only do it as a part-time job and some do it as their full-time job. A streamer can make a healthy income from playing video games and commentating while playing. Generation Z is the most likely to watch other people play video games rather than playing by themselves.

The four main sources of income for streamer are a donation, subscription, ads, and sponsorship. Donations are the first form of support that's ever been known. It's when viewers just give money to the streamer. Donators are viewers who directly give the money to the streamer themselves without any fees, like say a subscription. On Twitch, you can get notifications when a streamer is about to stream just by following them, click the Heart and leave Notifications (the bell) on. That's free. You can also subscribe and that puts money in a Twitch streamer's pocket. It’s cost $4.99 per month but the streamer only gets $2.50 because of the fees Twitch imposes on each subscription. Subscription is a good way to support your favourite streamer because subscription gives you many perks that you can’t get from donating like no ads when you click on the stream, get special and unique emotes from that streamer that can be used in others streamer channel as well and also get icon in front of your name to show that you are supporting this streamer. Donating is a good way to help your streamer reach their goals for example, Streamer can put donating bar on their stream and it will show how much money they need to reach the goal like getting new headset or new house for example because subscription is only 4.99 and can’t be more than that accept higher tier so donating is a good way to choose the amount of money you want to donate to the streamer.

For sponsorships, companies pay streamers to promote their brand. The most visible one is to pay streamers to play their games (sponsored streams) and some just ask to put their product on the streaming screen. The rate streamers get paid for sponsored streams ranges from 1¢ to $1.00 per viewer per hour. If you get 10,000 viewers, that's $1,000 to $10,000 per hour of gameplay. You will also see streamers being sponsored by companies that make gaming equipment, from headsets to chairs to keyboards. If you want to be like your favorite streamer and want to start streaming, you should know that you won’t make money or popular overnight. It a long way to success in the streaming community and you have to find your own unique way to stand out from others streamer and use that as your selling point and the last thing is never to give up because streaming requires a lot of passion and hard work to be accomplished.
